She Wore A Raspberry Beret for Day 2 of the #PopLife40 Virtual Symposium
TODAY ATWIAD Presentations & Roundtable + What Did Prince Do This Week!
There is a park that is known for the face it attracts
Colorful people whose hair on one side is swept back
The smile on their faces, it speaks of profound inner peace
Ask where they're going, they'll tell you nowhere
They've taken a lifetime lease on Paisley Park
~ Prince, “Paisley Park,” Around The World In A Day

Days 2 & 3 → Saturday and Sunday (April 12-13) on Zoom Events!
For days two and three, Saturday and Sunday (April 12-13), we R using the Zoom Events platform for #PopLife40 like we did for the #Come30 Virtual symposium.
Register on Zoom Events with a Zoom account or email for Saturday & Sunday
If you haven’t already, head over to this link NOW to register on Zoom Events for Saturday and Sunday!
U’ll get an email confirmation straight from Zoom Events.
Keep track of that email 2 log in or better yet, save it 2 your calendar. Zoom Events gives U links 2 do that.
Tix R limited! Send friends 2 this Substack post, not the direct Zoom Events link.
Don’t share your ticket! Each person gets a unique Zoom Events login tied 2 the email U used when U registered. Everyone must register 4 themselves.
Join the Zoom Events Lobby
Please be aware that registering on Zoom Events doesn’t secure your spot! Once your registration is complete, secure it by joining the lobby!
Once U Make it 2 the Lobby, Say Howdy in the Chat!
Say howdy in the chat (highlighted in purple below). Let us know where you're logging in from and what are your favorite track(s) from Prince’s Around The World In A Day (ATWIAD), The Family, and/or Sheila E.’s Romance 1600.
Lobby “Preview” Video vs. Session Video (as an Attendee)
You can “preview” sessions in the Lobby, but it’s better to watch them in the session.
You can’t make the video in the Lobby fullscreen and you won’t have access to the session chat.
If you join the session, you can make your video full screen and you can participate in the session chat.
Lobby Chat
Think of the Lobby Chat as a global chat. Everyone will be able to see the global chat. It’s persistent.
Session Chat
Session chats will be unique to each session. Only people who join sessions will be able to see the session chat.
Lobby Chats vs. Session Chats
The lobby chat and session chats are NOT the same.
Think of a lobby as a room (and more specifically a lobby of a conference building) and think of all the sessions as different conference rooms in a building. Folks can be in different rooms at the same time.
So if you go, “I’m here and no one else is” or “The speakers aren’t responding to me.” It’s because they might be in a different “room”.
Your Zoom Events Attendee Profile
You can access your attendee profile in the top right-hand corner of Zoom Events to the right of the menu bar on a laptop. It’s highlighted in purple below.
Please grant permission to display your profile image by clicking your profile icon in the top right-hand corner and following the prompts.
You’ll be asked to select one of the following options:
Feeling Social – if you’d like to chat with others directly through direct messages
Simply Exploring – if you prefer not to chat directly
On April 11-13, 2025 (Fri-Sun), join us for the #PopLife40 *VIRTUAL* symposium to celebrate 40 years of Prince’s Around The World In A Day (ATWIAD), The Family, and Sheila E.’s Romance 1600, all of which Prince produced, arranged, composed, and performed with the assistance of some amazing musical collaborators!
ATWIAD is the bold and unexpected left-turn Prince took while still riding the wave of Purple Rain’s massive commercial success. This symposium will explore why he chose not to capitalize on that momentum with a “Purple Rain 2,” why the tour was cut short and never made it to Europe, and broader themes of race, gender, politics, and sexuality, as well as his impact on music, film, and fashion.
Over 3 days, there will be 40 speakers over 10 total sessions, featuring 13 presentations over 5 presentation panels, 3 lively roundtable discussions, an integrated segment of the weekly, What Did Prince Do This Week? webcast, and this special keynote.

JUST ANNOUNCED! My Love Is Forever Chris Rob and Friends: A Live Deep Dive Into Purple Funk, April 21, 2025 in NYC!
At the end of the day, it's all about the music–live music. So keep the celebration of Prince going post-symposium with the upcoming “My Love Is Forever Chris Rob and Friends: A Live Deep Dive Into Purple Funk,” featuring DJs Leecy T and Ultra Violet on April 21, 2025, at Chelsea Music Hall in New York City.
If you attended #DM40GB30 or #TripleThreat40, you already know how extraordinary Chris Rob is as a live performer. This is a do-not-miss performance if you are in the Tri-State Area, and it's worth the travel even if you’re not.
Special guest Robert Whitman will be selling original shots from Prince: Pre Frame, as well as displaying a small gallery of the shoot. Please help spread the word!
